CLAIM: Senior Citizens Commission is giving extra P1K monthly to its constituents
RATING: FALSE
THE FACTS: According to a Facebook post by Edna Aquino, an activist, senior citizens like her must be wary of news of an additional monthly pension that is spreading through social media and social messaging sites.

The link that leads you to the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) site for online registration is legit, however, the information that the dependent will receive a sum of 1000 pesos every three months is not true.
The NCSC said that senior citizens should be wary of fake news using their logo.
“The NCSC has noticed that the most glaring disinformation scheme that some vloggers and trolls do is to copy the icon or logo or even the actual website of the NCSC on their post and share it on various social media platforms to make it appear that it is official or legitimate NCSC posting although the text or content of which is fake news,” NCSC said.

WHY WE FACT-CHECKED THIS? Trolls, scammers and phishers know that senior citizens are the most gullible of the age groups because they are unfamiliar to online media and almost believe everything they see. So their children and grandchildren should guide them about fake news and scandals that might victimize them
