CLAIM: Lawyer Gadon says human rights violations under Marcos Sr. regime were “Yellow Propaganda”
RATING: FALSE
This is another case of historical revisionism.
Lawyer Larry Gadon falsely stated that human rights violations perpetrated under the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos Sr. were only fabricated and utilized as propaganda by the opposition.
In time for the commemoration of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution last Feb. 25, Gadon posted a video on Facebook, saying:
“Inuungkat na naman ng mga propagandista at ng mga komunista at mga dilawan, ‘yun daw human rights violation ng ating mahal na pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Sr. at ang sinasabi nila ay dapat alalahanin ang mga human rights violation. Eh napatunayan naman na lahat ‘yan ay haka-haka at mga imbento at propaganda lamang ng mga dilawan.”
(The propagandists, communists and yellow supporters are once again bringing up the alleged human rights violation of our beloved president Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and they’re saying that we should commemorate the human rights violations. But those had been proven to be false and invented and just part of the propaganda of the opposition.)

This statement cannot be any more wrong.
In 1992, a US court ruled Sen. Imee Marcos, the late dictator’s eldest daughter, accountable for the “wrongful murder” by “official torture” of student activist Archimedes Trajano.

In 1995, about 10,000 persons were successful in a class-action lawsuit in Hawaii, where a jury condemned Marcos for “torture, murder, and disappearances of fellow Filipinos.”

11,103 victims suffered under the Marcos era and are entitled to compensation from the P10 billion sum lost from the late dictator’s family’s Swiss banks, this is as stated by Human Rights Violations Victims’ Memorial Commission (HRVVMC).
