Claim: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., like his father, delivers his speeches extemporaneously, as he did in his inaugural speech.
Rating: FALSE
The Facts:
The late dictator, Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. and the namesake of the new president, is known for delivering his speeches extemporaneously.
In an attempt to liken Bongbong Marcos to his father, a Facebook page, Balitam Pinas, claimed that Bongbong uses no teleprompter in expressing his speech.
This was surprising because Bongbong was widely chastised for not being a natural speaker like his father and he shunned speaking or debating in public because he often stutters and sometimes gets lost in his thoughts.
It was a welcome sight to see him not looking down where teleprompters are usually placed.
But another camera angle from the same video proved otherwise.
In fact, there were pictures of two teleprompters at eye length on both his left and right sides.
Why we fact-checked this: Teleprompters is absolutely nothing wrong with communicating someone’s message to a live audience.
The use of teleprompters does not diminish one’s brilliance or efficiency especially in handling the nation’s problems.
However, spreading outright lies to put someone in good light is utterly wrong.
