Claim: Magalong in “ALL OUT SUPPORT” of Bantag
Rating: FALSE
YouTube videos shared with us claim that Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong has taken a stance in full support of suspended BuCor chief Gerald Bantag, who is a person of interest in the investigation of the slaying of broadcaster Percy Lapid.
This is false.
Magalong has not officially taken a stance on the investigations.
Facts: While he did show up at a rally of Bantag supporters in the Melvin Jones Grandstand in Baguio City, Magalong later clarified in an interview with the ABS-CBN DZMM TeleRadyo that he is not interfering or meddling in the case proceedings and that his show of support was intended to speak against anger and intrigue in the proceedings of the case.

According to Magalong, his “support” of Bantag has been taken out of context. Rather than supporting Bantag officially, he has told Bantag to let the investigation proceedings run their course and be with his family during that time instead.
