Claim: Marcos Sr. could have prevented typhoons using rockets
Rating: FALSE
Conspiracy posts of an anti-typhoon rocket developed during the Marcos era have been making their rounds all over social media.
The post states. “The typhoon will be bombarded with these rockets that are loaded with Silver Iodide Crystals which is used in “Cloud Seeding”, so that the typhoon looses (sic) all of it’s (sic) precipitation before it reaches the Philippine area of Responsibility,” and cites “Philippine History” as their source.

While this is obviously false, an anti-typhoon rocket is simply science fiction.
Although there have been attempts to nuke a hurricane, Chris Landsea, a meteorologist from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has explained that hurricanes are extremely powerful that not even several nuclear weapons would destroy them. A hurricane’s wind energy equals about half of the entire world’s electricity and its energy is 200 times the world’s annual electricity use.
