Claim: Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus of the World Health Organization, is not vaccinated against COVID-19.

The Facts: In a now-deleted video by Tiktok user The Five8 Take Podcast, the host Diogo Correa claims that World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is not vaccinated against COVID-19.
While the video was deleted from the user’s Tiktok page, it can still be viewed on their Instagram page @thefive8take.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus got his COVID-19 vaccine on 12 May 2021. The following day, May 13, he tweeted a photo of himself receiving the vaccine.

Jon Cohen is the scientist who interviewed Tedros about his vaccination date. Cohen quote-tweeted a post containing the claim and called it “a lie.”

Jon Cohen’s interview with Tedros was taken out of context by Correa for the video. In the full transcript of the interview, Tedros answered “May 12” when he was asked about the date of his first vaccination against COVID-19.

Why we fact-checked this: Before being deleted, the Tiktok video had over 37,300 likes, 1,862 comments, and 734,200 views. The Instagram page where the video was also posted has over 19,000 followers.
