FOLLOWING the end of term of interim Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) General Manager (GM) Ramil Rafani, the National Electrification Administration (NEA) has put in place another temporary GM to hold the seat for another six months.
The NEA designated Artemio Bacoco, department manager of the cooperative’s Power Generation and Operations Department (PGOD), as the acting GM for six months effective June 1, or until a regular GM has been appointed.
The current board of directors (BOD), who are capable of choosing the GM for the cooperative, are all NEA-assigned from the January decision that ended the leadership dispute between then GM Melchor Licoben, who has been demoted to assistant GM, and Marie Rafael.
Both Bacoco and Rafani were also seated by the NEA.
Currently, there has yet to be a member-consumer-owner (MCO) election to elect a BOD or a GM, both of which were assigned by the NEA and intended to be “interim” BOD and GM while the cooperative settles its leadership issues.
