AFTER a long period of low COVID-19 case incidence, Baguio City has once again seen triple digits in terms of active COVID cases.

As of Thursday, July 7, the city had some 106 active cases, up by 30 cases from last week’s figure of 76 active cases.

Prior to last week’s 76 cases, only two weeks ago, the city only had 12 active COVID-19 cases, with July 1st seeing more than a sextupling of cases.

However, even with the uptick in cases, healthcare facilities utilization remains fairly low compared to the previous peaks in the city.

In terms of healthcare utilization, the city is using 22.73 percent of its intensive care unit (ICU) beds, and 9.85 percent of its non-ICU beds, all for a total of 11.35 healthcare utilization rate despite the growing number of COVID-19 cases.

While the ICU usage in the city has gone up, total healthcare utilization has gone down slightly from 11.61 last week, owing to the decreased usage of non-ICU beds.
