COVID-19 incidence in Baguio City has shot up in the recent week following a small surge of cases.

According to the City Health and Services Office (CHSO), the number of active cases as of this week is 76, more than six times the number of cases from two weeks ago in mid-June, which only had 12 cases.

On Wednesday, the city saw 15 new cases, followed by 25 new cases the next day on Thursday.

On a daily basis, the city conducts more than 300 COVID-19 tests to detect infections.

However, even with the uptick in cases, healthcare facilities remain healthy in terms of occupancy, with utilization remaining fairly low compared to the previous peaks in the city.

In terms of healthcare utilization, the city is using 20.45 percent of its intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 10.45 percent of its non-ICU beds, all for a total of 11.61 healthcare utilization rate despite the growing number of COVID-19 cases.
