DSWD opens aid for quake victims in Abra

MONTHS after the July 7.0 magnitude quake that rocked Abra province, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is opening the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program for the quake victims.

23,415 families in Abra and Mountain Province are targeted for aid at a total cost of P214 million.

Families whose homes were partially destroyed will receive cash assistance equal to 75 percent of the minimum regional daily wage rate, or P280 for 30 days, for a total amount of P8,550. Meanwhile, families whose homes were completely destroyed will receive P25,650, or P280 for 90 days.

The ECT program, which will be implemented in the 27 municipalities of the province, is being offered for the first time in the province of Abra.

Poor families who are listed in the DSWD Listahanan Poverty Database and are not receiving aid from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) are eligible beneficiaries.

Those who live in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas , have members who are from the vulnerable sector, have lost family members to the earthquake and have homes that are damaged are also eligible to receive assistance under the ECT.
