BAGUIO Mayor Benjamin Magalong has signed a resolution from the Baguio City Council authorizing him on behalf of the city to enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Department of Social Welfare and Development – Cordillera (DSWD-CAR), for a partnership to provide assistance and services to households that have waived their receipt of assistance under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

“The 4Ps is a strategy program that grants poor households financial assistance to improve their health, nutrition status and education of their children,” the MOA states.

The 4Ps is a nationwide program for poverty reduction and human capital investment where poor households can, for a maximum of seven years, receive conditional cash transfers with the goal of meeting conditions for human development set by the government.

According to the signed MOA, the partnership is specifically for the city to be able to provide services and programs to households that have waived the 4Ps.

“The partnership is aimed at providing the necessary support services by making it accessible and available. It ensures that the households who have waived the 4Ps program would still have the necessary support in cases of economic shock and other vulnerabilities even after the maximum period of the cash grant,” the resolution states.
