THE long-awaited modernization of the Baguio City Library will now push through following the passage on third and final reading of the ordinance on the matter in the city council on Monday.
Once improved, the library will be operating 14 hours daily from 8:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. with improved facilities, better services, a place to get refreshments, and a mobile charging station.
The changes to the library were based on a previous public survey with over a thousand respondents regarding the best ways to improve the services of the library.
A common and frequent answer was the extension of its operating hours, leading to the extended 14-hour day of operations for the library going forward. The library will also be open all days of the week save for holidays and other special non-working days.
In accordance with the ordinance, the library will conduct a dry run of the new working hours for one month after the ordinance’s passage.
In addition to expanded operating hours, the library will be offering concessionaires set in a portion of the library.
There will also be a charging station intended to allow readers to continue using their electronics inside the library while availing of its services.
The library will also begin providing bookbinding, photocopying and printing services to its users.
