BAGUIO City officials have set aside a P5.1 million fund in total across multiple offices for the provision of medical aid to indigent and needy patients in the city for 2023.
Under Resolution No. 401, series of 2023, local legislators stated that the aforesaid said amount will be allotted to the city mayor – P 600,000, city vice mayor – P 510,000 and the members of the local legislative body – P 266,000 each.
Earlier, the city council passed Resolution No. 310, series of 2023 authorizing the city mayor to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for the implementation of the medical assistance city aid program for indigent patients in the city for the year 2023.
Under the memorandum of agreement, the city has set aside a total of P17.1 million for the purpose of providing medical services to the needy, with P12 million being allotted for the purchase of medical equipment for BGHMC, and the remaining P5.1 million set aside as medical assistance for indigents being treated at the BGHMC.
Indigent patients wanting to avail of the medical assistance from the city officials must present their medical abstract and diagnosis from their respective physicians and their certificates of indigency which will be subject to evaluation and assessment by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
