THE municipality of La Trinidad (LT) recently broke ground on a new 50-bed capacity hospital at Km. 4 LT, Benguet.

The La Trinidad Medical Center (LTMC) as it has been named, will commence construction in full swing after healthcare professionals that are also investors complete the regulatory requirements and permits from government agencies and the municipal government.

The proposed five-story LTMC is only 10 meters away from the national highway and is expected to house a diagnostic and dialysis center to cater to Cordillera’s patients.

The LTMC is slated to be operational some time in 2023, according to the investors behind the project.

“There is a noted increase in the number of kidney patients through the years. The establishment of a dialysis center within the hospital will be helpful for the patients,” LT mayor Romeo Salda said.

Romeo Salda said that in addition to the LTMC, more healthcare facilities are needed in the municipality to keep up with population growth. During the most recent 2020 census, LT had a population of some 140,000 individuals, the highest among Benguet’s 13 towns.

Currently, LT has the Benguet General Hospital, Cordillera Hospital of the Divine Grace, and Camp Dangwa Hospital, in addition to several private health clinics and diagnostic centers.
