THE Department of Health (DOH) and the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) have officially opened the bidding process for the hospital’s planned dialysis center upgrade.
The hospital’s P392-million dialysis center will be implemented as a public –private partnership (PPP) project, with the DOH now looking for solicited proposals for review.
According to the DOH, the bidding will cover the finance, design, retrofit, supply, and operation and maintenance of a dialysis center within the BGHMC compound that will serve hemodialysis patients in Benguet and surrounding areas.
In the past few years, BGHMC has taken efforts to upgrade its capacity and services, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the country’s healthcare system was taxed to full capacity.
In the wake of the pandemic, BGHMC underwent many upgrades, both in infrastructure and expansion of available services. Earlier last year, the BGHMC launched its new Liver Center.
Also last year, Baguio Representative Mark Go filed for House Bill 10451, which saw the doubling of bed capacity of the BGHMC from 800 to 1500.
According to the lawmaker, the BGHMC offers leading-edge specialty services for CAR, Baguio, and for Northern Luzon patients.
The hospital, which trains over 200 residents in over 16 specialized fields, is set to fully implement 15 more specialty programs over the next four years, including the coming dialysis program.
