THE Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO)’s power rates have increased slightly in the month of June.
Minimal adjustments in the transmissions and systems loss charges have led to slightly increased rates. Data from BENECO shows that the rate for residential consumers was at P9.5616 per kilowatt hour (kwh) in June, P0.0208/kwh higher compared to the P9.5408/kwh rates of the previous month.
The generation charge remained unchanged between the months, but the transmission charge for member-consumer-owners (MCOs) increased by P0.001/kwh.
Increases were also seen in the systems loss charges, lifeline rates, low commercial voltage rates, industrial rates and high voltage commercial power rates.
Systems loss charges increased by P0.0102/kwh, and lifeline rates or discounts being subsidized by consumers by P0.052/kwh, causing upticks in consumption rates across the board.
Commercial buildings, streetlights, and residential areas alike saw similar small increases in energy costs this month.
