The Cordillera region’s Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) has approved a further hike in workers’ wages this month, set to take effect two days before Christmas.
Wage Order CAR-23, dated Nov. 13, and officially published by the RTWPB on Friday this week sets the minimum wage for private workers in the region to P470 a day.
This is a P40 increase in the daily minimum wage for the region’s workers.
The minimum wage rate in CAR stands at P430 as provided under Wage Order No. CAR-22, with the latest CAR wage order having taken effect back in December 2023.
The RTWPB also issued Wage Order CAR-DW-06, granting a PHP1,100 monthly increase for household workers or “kasambahays” in the region.
This brings their minimum monthly wage to P6,000 from P4,900.
The RTWPB had been undergoing regular meetings since May to deliberate on the increase of wages in the region, taking public feedback on the proposed wage hikes which stem from a salary increase petition from stakeholders in the sector.
