THE Baguio Chronicle has taken home multiple awards in the prestigious Philippine Press Institute (PPI) 2021 Civic Journalism Community Press Awards last October 24, 2022.

Chronicle took home a total of three wins out of six categories for weekly papers in the awards tilt, being the Best in Reporting on Migration Issues, Best Editorial Page and receiving the biggest award in the weekly category of Best Edited Community Newspaper in the weekly category.

This is the fourth time that the Baguio Chronicle has won the prestigious Best Edited award, which it brought home in 2015, 2016, 2019, and 2021.

Alongside the Baguio Chronicle, fellow Baguio-based community paper Herald Express took home another award of Best in Business and Economic Reporting, making Baguio take home four out of the six weekly awards doled out.

The Baguio Chronicle was commended for its “well-written, fact-based opinion pieces,” news items relevant to the local community “in conformity with journalistic standards and ethics,” and coverage of issues concerning overseas Filipinos as well as local migrants in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

The only other publication to tie Chronicle for the number of bagged awards is the SunStar Cebu in the daily category.
