Had it not been for the unfortunate mishap in his third race, Iñigo Anton could have placed better in his second F4 race.
But the Baguio racing sensation was able to score double wins in the F4 Australian Championship, clinching back-to-back P1 in the rookie class during round 4 in Sepang, Malaysia on September 7 to 8, 2024.
Anton struggled in race 1 where he slid to P8 from P6 due to a damp track, but was able to recover and finish P7, ahead of fellow rookies Seth Gilmore and Imogen Radburn.
In the second race, Anton finished P5 overall, while clinching another rookie win.
“I was super excited for Race 3! Unfortunately, however, I got hit from behind at the start which caused me to sustain damage on my rear tire. We had to retire the car to avoid further damage,” Anton said in his Facebook post.
Anton, driving for The Black Arts Racing Team, overseen by Sporting Director and former F1 driver Alex Yoong, took 16 total points in the final round of the Australian championship.
“Overall, it was an amazing weekend. Thank you everyone for supporting me throughout my whole racing career. It’s because of all of you I’m able to live out my dreams and continue what I love doing. I’m so blessed,” added Anton.
Aside from his F4 stint, Iñigo is also leading the championship in the 2024 Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup while securing national championships in both Formula V1 and Radical Cars Philippines back in 2023.
Anton is backed by Motul Philippines Infiniteserv, a prominent supplier of high-performance lubricants and automotive products.
