LAST weekend, the Media-Minero basketball team finally got a chance to exact revenge against Philex Mining Corporation’s selection squad led by former SLU Navigator John Ray Fernandez.

It took us three years to get back to Philex due to the pandemic, and thanks to our young guns led by former BCT Atom scoring machine Jhervie Calivo, the Media – Minero pulled off a hard-earned 97-92 win in an exhibition match during Philex 62nd Feast of the Sto. Niño of Prague celebration.

The media, Migs Velarde, Bobby Bio, Darius Bajo, Jordan Tablac and Edward Pangosban joined Calivo and CJ Sanklin for the squad’s eighth win against one loss in their head to head match – up with Philex while Toby Maskay Fangasan and siblings Miguel and Aaron Velarde added firepower to the Media – Minero.

Special thanks to Atty. Ed Aratas and Philex CEO Eulalio Austin for the invitation and the warm reception during our stay in Philex.
