IMPROVEMENT of the Benguet Sports Complex in La Trinidad will continue with the renovation of the basketball gymnasium and the construction of the Olympic–size swimming pool.
Kevin See, chief of staff of Benguet Cong. Eric Go Yap, said construction for the first phase of the swimming pool worth at least P300 million will begin either late this year or early next year once the bidding is complete.
The budget, added See, will only include a heated pool and a bleacher while funding for other facilities inside the proposed aquatic center will be sourced soon.
Yap earlier assured the construction of the swimming pool will be supervised by individuals with technical know-how to make sure the required international standards of measurements of the sports facility will be followed.
See added another P50 million was also earmarked for the renovation of the basketball gym inside the sports complex which will include the repair of its roof and flooring.
Installation of the rubberized tartan track, including the bleachers worth P160 million, has already been completed and awaiting turn-over to the province for the facility to be utilized by stakeholders in the province.
Yap also added completion of the upgrading of the Benguet Sports Complex facilities would boost its chances of hosting regional, national, and even international competition in the near future with the dream of making the province a regional sports hub.
See meanwhile said that Congressman Yap, aside from delivering the needed funds for the improvement of sports facilities in the province, has also vowed to assist Benguet athletes either in their training or competitions outside the province.
