Vice President Sara Duterte has approved Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong’s request to open up the road in Teachers’ Camp to private vehicles in a bid to lessen traffic along Leonard Wood Road.
The road has been reopened on a trial period until January 20, 2023, subject to review.
The scheme would allow private vehicles to pass through Teachers Camp’s inner street connecting Leonard Wood Road and South Drive Road from 6 AM to 9 AM and 4 PM to 7 PM on weekdays and 7 AM to 8 PM on weekends.
The vice president’s approval was given on the condition that the traffic scheme be implemented and subjected to close police monitoring during its implementation.
“This is to protect the safety and security of the premises as well as the motorists and pedestrians entering the area,” the Vice President said.
Baguio City Police Office Traffic Enforcement Unit Chief PMaj. Zacarias Dausen said they will coordinate with Teachers Camp for the immediate implementation of the scheme.
Dausen said that the traffic scheme is expected to unclog nearby Ilusorio Drive and the Pacdal rotunda.
