THE Public Order and Safety Division (POSD) enforcer caught on camera brandishing a knife at a public utility jeepney driver along Magsaysay Avenue has been sacked by the POSD after investigations reached a conclusion on the truth of the allegations.

The enforcer, who the POSD has refused to name publicly, has had his contract terminated effective immediately after the investigations concluded.

“After having thoroughly investigated the matter, we have determined that the allegation, to be specific, your brandishing of a utility knife to a traffic violator, albeit folded, was indeed substantiated,” the letter from the POSD terminating the contract states.

During the investigation’s proceedings, the POSD officer in question was put under preventive suspension, even if the jeepney driver in the altercation had agreed to settle the matter amicably.

The POSD has also publicly issued a statement that they will continue to make efforts to weed out unprofessional and unfit members of their ranks in light of the incident.

However, reactions to the news of the termination have been mixed, with some Baguio residents seeking further charges for unlawful possession of deadly weaponry, as well as banning the officer in question from employment in government offices, which the termination does not provide for.
