THE governor of Mountain Province has joined 14 other provincial governors in a meet at candidate Bongbong Marcos’s campaign headquarters in Mandaluyong in a show of support for Marcos.

The other governors who attended the meeting were Danilo Suarez of Quezon, Rodito Albano of Isabela, Hermilando Mandanas of Batangas, Arthur Yap of Bohol, Dax Cua of Quirino, Susan Yap of Tarlac, Jose Riano of Romblon, Florencio Miraflores of Aklan, Philip Tan of Misamis Occidental, Eduardo Gadiano of Mindoro Occidental, Alexander Pimentel of Surigao del Sur, Suharto Mangudadatu of Sultan Kudarat, Bai Mariam Mangudadatu of Maguindanao, and Former Governor Jun Ynares III of Rizal representing current Governor Rebecca Ynares.

Marcos met previously with another 10 governors supporting his presidential bid, including Cordillerans Ferdinand Tubban of Kalinga, Joy Bernos of Abra and Jerry Dalipog of Ifugao.

The others who attended the first meeting were Governors Imelda Dimaporo of Lanao del Norte, Francisco Emmanuel Ortega III of La Union, Nancy Catamco of Cotabato; Esteban Evan Contreras of Capiz and Damian Mercado of Southern Leyte.

The previous meet was on April 3, which was also the date of the second Commission on Elections (Comelec) sponsored presidential debate. Marcos skipped said debate.

In a press statement, the Marcos camp claimed that 73 of the 81 governors in the country are now backing his presidential bid.

It cites a previous remark made by Narvacan mayor Chavit Singson who serves as the president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines.

However, the statements have not been backed by proper evidence, and Singson himself is a public Marcos supporter.
