THE Baguio City government on Monday started work on rejuvenating the reflecting pool in Wright Park in front of the Mansion.

A popular tourist spot, the pool is set to undergo some six months of civil works, according to city Architect II Hanee Kevin, with a target of completing it byJune.

The estimated cost to bring up the reflecting pool to the desired standards is some P19 million to be shouldered by Bloomberry, a Manila-based company, as a donation to the local government.

The project, which will be implemented by two city-chosen private contractors, will include structures for electrical, mechanical and plumbing facilities as well as other new features, according to Kevin.

The move to upgrade the reflecting pool is part of an effort to develop other tourist spots in the city to pull away traffic and visitors from more congested tourist sites such as Burnham Park and the Botanical Garden.

However, Kevin also assured that visiting the reflecting pool will remain free of charge for the general public as it is currently.
