TEST paraglider flights have been launched in Mount Yangbew in La Trinidad, Benguet province, ahead of plans to fully launch paraglider and paramotor activities in the area as a tourist-drawing activity.

La Trinidad Tourism Officer Valred Olsim said that the results and data gathered from the test flights have been positive and favorable, but the municipality will finish consultations with the appropriate stakeholders prior to moving forward with the project.

According to Olsim, they will first wait to address stakeholder safety concerns and finalize all appropriate requirements before conducting the next test flight by December before an official launch targeted by January of next year.

Northside Air Flying Sports Center, the proponent of the paragliding and paramotor activities, has eyed three locations for the activities once the specifics have been threshed out – Mount Yangbew, Tawang, and Nature Tower in Beckel.

Olsim has advised individuals interested in trying out the activity to wait for the advisory of local officials and the La Trinidad government as to when the flights will be open to the public.
