Seven days and seven photos for three renowned photographers showcasing their works in a photo exhibit are available for public viewing at Luisa’s Café starting Thursday, October 3.
Long-time photojournalists Dave Leprozo joins noted photographer Noli Gabilo and artist-artisan Joey de Leon in the three-men show entitled “Photographic Sojourn.”
The exhibit, which runs until October 13, is the product of their seven-day sojourn from Baguio to Benguet and Mountain Province. It “showcases images of the quiet elegance of the Cordillera landscapes, the warm and hospitable people and a glimpse of the grandiose celestial photography from the northern mountaintops.”
Calling themselves advocates of adventure, travel and tourism, “the exhibition highlights their photographic journey which will showcase the immense beauty of farmlands, deep tunnels of Lepanto Mines, and poetically starry nights.”
Aside from photography, de Castro is also a noted potter considered one of the country’s best artisans in the craft. Leprozo, meanwhile, has been taking photos since his teenage years and has contributed to local and national papers like the defunct Gold Ore and Cordillera Today, and the Manila Standard, among others.
The fisherman from Batanes, Gabilo, is one of the country’s most noted photographers known for his night photography, as well as for being a travel photographer who has traveled from the farthest north to the deepest south of the Philippines to showcase his talent. He is the recipient of the prestigious Gawad Mangpus for Ivatan Excellence in Photographic Arts and the Department of Tourism’s Kalakbay Award.
