BAGUIO City is seeing even more COVID-19 incidence as the case total continues to climb for the third week in a row, but healthcare utilization in the city remains low and not a cause for concern.
On July 21, Thursday, Baguio saw 51 new cases in a single day, bumping up the current active case total to 165, higher than the previous weeks’ figures. The city also saw 10 reinfections the same day.
However, the cases continue to be mild, with 55 of the recorded new cases being mild infections and seven being fully asymptomatic.
Even with the high number of confirmed cases adding up to the city total, utilization of the city’s healthcare facilities remains low.
The total healthcare utilization rate (HCUR) of the city, counting both intensive and non-intensive care, is only 6.33 percent, with 24 beds out of 379 in use.
Intensive care unit beds are at 16 percent utilization or seven out of 44, while non-intensive care beds are at only 5.07 percent utilization, with 17 out of 335 available beds being in use.
