BGHMC personnel, equipment to bolster quake-hit Abra

THE Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) has sent personnel and equipment to quake-hit Abra to bolster medical care at the Abra Provincial Hospital (APH).

35 BGHMC personnel, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, radiologists, and emergency medical treatment (EMT)-trained staff have been sent to APH in the wake of the earthquake the previous week.

Additionally, BGHMC has included an anesthesia machine, X-ray machine, hospital supplies, medicines, cot beds, tent generators, and emergency lights for use in Abra while the personnel provide assistance.

Ilocos Training Regional Medical Center, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center, Philippine Emergency Medical Assistance Team, and Cagayan Valley Medical Center have also sent personnel and equipment to APH.

Current figures indicate that five hospitals, 22 Rural Health Units, and 15 Barangay Health Stations have been damaged by the earthquake in Abra province.

The Department of Health – Cordillera (DOH-CAR) has also provided some P4.3 million worth of assistance to Abra, including items such as heavy duty cots, drugs and medicines, and other medical supplies.
