A HOUSE bill for the rehabilitation of Kennon Road has been approved in the Senate.

House Bill 6491, which would see the full rehabilitation and maintenance of Kennon Road, was approved by the Senate Committee on Public Works.

Principal author and Baguio City Representative Mark Go presented the bill before the committee on October 8.

Under the bill, the Department of Public Works and Highways would be mandated to implement the full rehabilitation and maintenance of the highway.

Road work would cover parts of Kennon Road in barangays Camp 1 to Camp 6 in Tuba, and Camp 7 and Camp 8 in Baguio City.

According to Go, as Kennon Road is one of the oldest and most popular highways to Baguio City, it must be refurbished into an all-weather road.

Kennon Road has frequently been the site of accidents caused by landslides, and the highway is often ordered closed during heavy rains and typhoons.

Go said that the rehabilitation of the road is long overdue and would guarantee the safety and convenience of motorists plying the road.
