Claim: UN leaders were impressed by President Bongbong Marcos Jr. and praised his talent and intelligence.
Rating: FALSE
The Facts: A YouTube video entitled “PBBM, PINAHANGA ang UNITED NATIONS | Pinuri ang talino ng ating PRESIDENTE” was posted by user Pilipinas Malakas on 12 July 2022. This video was also shared on their Facebook page on the same day.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iw9G-0Zbn7c
https://www.facebook.com/PilipinasMalakasTV/?ref=page_internal
The video does not show the United Nations nor anyone representing the United Nations praising Bongbong Marcos and his supposed intelligence. What it actually shown are clips from Climate Change Commissioner Albert del Rosario’s book launch and other clips from several videos of Marcos’ speeches.
The younger Marcos, like the rest of the remaining members of the Marcos family, is facing arrest warrants from a United States court for their failure to pay the $2 Billion settlement they owe the victims of the Martial Law persecution.
That means he can not just freely travel to the United Nations headquarters in New York and deliver his speech there so he could be praised by the UN leaders, as his fantasy writers would have us to believe.
Why we fact-checked this: The video title is clickbait and it is misleading.
Clickbait is “a sensationalized headline that encourages you to click a link to an article, image, or video. Instead of presenting objective facts, clickbait headlines often appeal to your emotions and curiosity.”
https://edu.gcfglobal.org/en/thenow/what-is-clickbait/1/
With clickbait regarding YouTube channels, clicking on the video allows the channel to gain more views, boosting its visibility and revenue from advertisements even though the content of the video is of questionable quality and accuracy.
