This picture circulating on social media (https://twitter.com/raissaw…/status/1494493995757862914…) shows the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) national office in the Palacio del Gobernador Building in Intramuros, Manila, lit up in red and green colors, the color of the Marcos – Duterte candidate tandem.
This story is True.
The picture, shared by veteran journalist Raissa Robles and garnering 468 retweets as of the time of this posting, has been confirmed by COMELEC spokesperson James Jimenez.
In a tweet (https://twitter.com/jabjimenez/status/1494545175842279429…), Jimenez responded to the image confirming that COMELEC is indeed a tenant in the building, which is under the management of the Office of the President.
Jimenez said that the lights were an unintentional choice, and that the building’s administration is moving to rectify the politically-charged color scheme for different colors of lighting.
This story has raised concerns among netizens, who believe that actions such as these lower the credibility of the COMELEC and the coming national elections.
