Claims circulating on YouTube indicate that the charges against suspended BuCor chief Gerald Bantag over the killing of broadcaster Percy Lapid are set to be dropped.
This is false.
Investigation proceedings are still ongoing. As part of the investigations, the Department of Justice has subpoenaed or ordered Bantag to appear in a preliminary investigation on November 23.

The DOJ will start on Wednesday the preliminary investigation of the two murder charges against Bantag and several other respondents for the deaths of radio commentator Percival “Percy Lapid” C. Mabasa and inmate Cristito Villamor Palana, the alleged middleman in the killing of the broadcaster last Oct. 3.
Bantag’s camp, through lawyer Rocky Balisong, received the subpoena two days before the hearing.

Bantag still has to prove that he is free from suspicion. While there is no warrant of arrest yet, he has to comply with the investigations as a person of interest.
