Claim: The singer Bamboo to perform in the Tingog Partylist concert
Rating: TRUE
The facts: A poster uploaded by the Tingog Partylist reveals that Filipino-American singer and songwriter Francisco “Bamboo” Mañalac is going to perform at their Thanksgiving concert.
The said concert was sponsored by Martin Romualdez, the cousin of the current president Ferdinand R. Marcos.
While the initial poster was already deleted and replaced, a screenshot of the first poster was circulated on Twitter. Bamboo’s commitment to the concert was frowned upon by the majority since he popularized songs like “Tatsulok” with strong revolutionary themes.
In a different post, a disclaimer was posted at the end of the caption stating that Bamboo is not connected to and endorsed by any political party and that he is merely a guest performer and not an endorser or supporter of any party or person.
While a disclaimer was already posted, the general public still remains skeptical of Bamboo’s political stance.
In this viral situation, Bamboo or his manager would have made a vehement denial. His silence, however, has been louder than his voice.
