Claim: Sandro Marcos wants OFWs to pay tax for gov’t debt
Rating: FALSE
This post (https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=337740885037729&id=100064054604745), shared with us through our tipline, says that BBM scion Sandro Marcos is suggesting imposing taxes on OFWs to help pay for government debts.
This is False.
The Facts: The image shared says that the information comes from Sandro Marcos’s official FB account, but looking through said account will show not only no OFW-related posts, but also no posts on the said date of February 27, 2022.
Additionally, there is no public coverage of such a statement being made in available news media.
The closest is an Instagram post (https://www.instagram.com/p/CNrvZsgsd1k/) where Sandro Marcos met with Ilocos Norte OFWs, but this post has no mention of taxes and tax plans either.
