This short clip (https://www.facebook.com/JapinayTomodachi/videos/1045479672691531/) shared with the Chronicle in the Save Sagada Facebook Group for fact-checking has Vice President Leni Robredo saying that many donors during her candidacy bid provided money that went into her personal accounts.

Rating: Missing Context

The original video is from a 2016 interview of then-vice presidential candidate Robredo in the ABS-CBN show Bandila, accessible here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4X3Sd1ydYT0) on the official ABS-CBN YouTube channel.

The clip used online is only roughly six seconds long and contains a soundbite of Robredo saying “Marami ang nagdodonate na pinapasok ko sa aking personal account”. The clip starts from around the 3:44 mark of the original video by ABS-CBN and cuts out at the 3:50 mark.

However, in the original uncut interview video, Robredo talks about how the donations, which are campaign contributions toward her vice presidential bid in 2016, are only partially personally received by her, are fully disclosed to the appropriate government agencies and the public, and how she does not utilize any of the donated money herself, with it going straight to the campaign teams headed by then Senator Bam Aquino.

The clip shared online, which is heavily cropped and low resolution, has few visual details, but the color of Robredo’s clothes and the background are consistent with that of the interview, in particular the blue portion of the Bandila logo in the background.
