The Claim: Doomsday preacher Apollo Quiboloy stated that Vice President Leni Robredo asked for panelist questions on the SMNI debate and likewise claimed that CNN Philippines had given the candidates debate questions in advance.
Rating: FALSE
The Facts: Professor Clarita Carlos has not mentioned that VP Robredo asked for questions in advance. Moreover, a CNN Philippines anchor and producer affirmed that there were no advance questions given to the candidates.
Why we fact checked this: Quiboloy’s 20-minute rant on SMNI’s Youtube channel has garnered 152,820 views, 6,100 thumbs up reactions, and 1,207 comments as of writing.
The founder of Kingdom of Jesus Christ and Sonshine Media Network International Pastor Apollo Quiboloy lashed out at the four presidential candidates for the 2022 national polls who did not attend the presidential debates organized by SMNI. In a video titled, “Pastor Apollo hinamon ang mga no show sa SMNI Debate” published on March 1, 2022, Quiboloy stated that the whole setup went through his approval except for the questions. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMQCYQKo5F8 15:50 timestamp]
On a fact-check article, Rappler has earlier dismissed the claims that VP Robredo asked for panel questions prior to the debate. Professor Carlos’ statement has been twisted to suggest that Robredo was requesting for advance questions. [https://www.rappler.com/…/up-professor-attacked-leni…/]
A tweet from CNN Philippines news anchor Mai Rodriquez affirmed that there were no advance questions given to any candidate. [https://twitter.com/Mai…/status/1498131772378591237…]
Also on a separate tweet, news producer JM Nualla posted VP Robredo’s and Dr. Willie Ong’s notes to prove that the production did not give out questions before the presidential debate. [https://twitter.com/jmnualla/status/1498118774817693696…]
Quiboloy-owned SMNI has been tagged for spreading disinformation and attacks to journalists and critics of the Duterte regime. [https://news.tv5.com.ph/…/disinformation-quiboloys-smni…]
