Claim: A photo uploaded on Twitter intentionally makes the water of Manila Bay appear unflattering.
Rating: FALSE
The Facts: A Facebook user who goes by the name MJ Quiambao Reyes criticizes a photo uploaded by user @CarlosAlmedaCo1 on Twitter, claiming that the owner had manipulated the photo in order to make the water in Manila Bay appear dark and murky.

The Facebook post also features a side-by-side comparison with photos provided by user, albeit ones that are taken from very different angles.

Drone footage taken on different dates from multiple angles clearly show that the water appears similar to that in the photo being criticized.

The pollution in Manila Bay has been a topic of concern for many years.

In fact, DENR still advises against bathing in Manila Bay’s water as of January due to extremely high concentration of fecal coliform bacteria.

Due to the severity of the pollution, former Secretary of Environmental and Natural Resources Roy Cimatu, stated that it would take many years to clean up the bay, despite multiple efforts by agencies such as DENR.

Why we fact-check this: The Facebook post has reached over 5.6K reactions and nearly 200 shares. Widespread misinformation caused by posts such as this falsely discredit critics of the Duterte administration.
