CLAIM: Atty. Leni Robredo will lend aid to actor Luis Manzano in regard to his alleged involvement with the FlexFuel controversy
RATING: FALSE
THE FACTS: Atty. Robredo has not issued any statements about helping Luis Manzano, who is currently embroiled in an issue about the investing scam surrounding the fuel company FlexFuel.
Purportedly, Robredo will repay her “utang na loob” to Edu Manzano by helping out his son, Luis. It is worth mentioning that during the 2022 elections, Edu Manzano expressed his support for Leni Robredo and campaigned for her. Trolls used this to misinform the public by making it appear as if Robredo is “repaying her debt”.
Currently, 50 investors have filed an estafa complaint against FlexFuel and Luis Manzano. According to some of them, the company failed to deliver on its promises about the supposed income for the investors.

In November 2022, he filed a complaint affidavit against the business, alleging that FlexFuel also owes him P66 million (https://news.abs-cbn.com/…/nbi-serves-another-subpoena…
Meanwhile, Edu aired out that he will not help his son in his predicament because according to him, he is a grown adult, and obstacles such as this are a part of growing up. He also added that it is better to resolve the issue through the proper legal process.

WHY WE FACT-CHECKED THIS: Robredo’s campaign in 2022 is a grassroots movement that stems from people desiring better governance. Those who supported her, including artists, did so voluntarily and were not expecting anything back.
