Claim: Kris Aquino has passed away
Rating: FALSE
A three-minute 30-second video was posted on Facebook just recently with the caption: “GRABE! UNANG GABI NG LAMAY SA BUROL NI KRIS AQUINO DINAGSA NG MGA TAO, KAIBIGAN AT KAMAG-ANAK (SEVERE! FIRST NIGHT OF KRIS AQUINO’S WAKE FLOCKED BY PEOPLE, FRIENDS AND RELATIVES).”
The video claims that Kris Aquino’s body was brought back to the Philippines and her wake was held in Quezon City at their private residence.
The video caused concern as some had paid respects and condolences to the Aquino family while others were quick to call out the false accusations. The video was also shared on YouTube by the channel PH NEWS NGAYON which has garnered 15,560 views.
The photo of the wake in the video that was circulating on social media was of veteran actress Susan Roces. The image has been manipulated so that netizens will believe that it was Kris Aquino’s wake instead.
This was not the first time that misleading information on Aquino’s health has been spread online.
A video dated June 29, 2022, claims that Kris has succumbed to her Illness. This was misleading because Kris has given an update on her Instagram to simply inform her followers that she would be updating less.
“This isn’t a permanent goodbye, ibalato nyo na lang hanggang malagpasan namin itong matinding pagsubok (please give it to us as a gift until we overcome this extreme trial).” she writes.
Kris is still alive and has recently posted on Instagram stating that she is starting a new round of diagnosis treatment (Nov. 24). She also paid tribute to her father, Ninoy Aquino, on his 90th birthday.
Kris Aquino has been undergoing treatments for a rare autoimmune disease and has been taking months out of the public eye to recover.
