Claim: Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Sandro Marcos will pass a law extending the terms of the president and vice president.
Rating: FALSE
The Facts: On July 4, 2022, YouTube channel “Showbiz Fanaticz” posted a video with the title, “NOW NA! SANDRO MARCOS, BINARA AGAD ang DILAWAN| TERMINO ni PBBM at VP SARA IPAPA-EXTEND AGAD!” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Abo_9Yii0UE
Screenshots of the video with the ‘claims’ made by Sandro Marcos have been circulating the Net.
Upon watching the video, it can be confirmed that Sandro Marcos never made claims to pass a law that would extend the terms of the president and vice president of the Philippines.
Instead, the YouTube video contains two stitched videos from an ambush interview with Sandro Marcos in the House of Representatives. The original video comes from the Facebook page of the People’s Television Network that was released the same day as Showbiz Fanaticz’s video.
In fact, in the original video, Sandro Marcos was asked about the charter change to which Sandro Marcos answered that he did not know much about the topic yet.

Why we fact-checked this: The YouTube video has garnered over 13,000 views. Screenshots of the video’s thumbnail and title have gone viral on various social media platforms. The deceptive video title causes disinformation.
