Claim: Darryl Yap is listed by Forbes as among the most obnoxious people under 30 worldwide
Rating: SATIRE
This post, shared with us through our tipline, claims that Filipino director Darryl Yap is listed by Forbes Magazine as one of the most obnoxious people in the world under 30 years of age.
This post is both false and satirical.
Forbes does run a 30 under 30 selection of individuals, but the Forbes selection refers to 30 influential people in the industry for that year in 20 industry categories under 30 years of age, not obnoxious people.
There is no Forbes Magazine list for Obnoxious People Under 30. And if there is, Daryl Yap, who was recently declred persona non grata by the Quezon City Council, could not be under consideration. Yap was born on January 7, 1987. He is 35 years old.
Furthermore, the link in the post redirects to the YouTube video for the Rick Astley song Never Gonna Give You Up (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ), a notorious song commonly used on the Internet as a joke.
The practice, known as Rickrolling, involves Internet users looking for clever ways to trick people into listening to the song on YouTube, commonly through redirecting links.
