The Claim: 100 billion people attended BBM Grand Rally 2022
Rating: Satire
A Facebook post which shows supposed pictures of a Marcos rally uploaded on March 14, says that “MORE THAN 100 BILLION ATTENDEES” were in the crowd.
This is Satire.
The group where this post is found, BONGBONG MARCOS ONLY [BMO] (https://www.facebook.com/groups/368662581389431) has 10.8k members and is publicly open.
A cursory look at the posts in the group indicates that the vast majority of them are jokes at the expense of the Marcos – Duterte tandem, with posts, humorously and sarcastically praising Marcos, if not offering backhanded compliments.
Among the posts are polls where members can vote on which candidates are thieves, posts calling on BBM supporters to pitch in to pay the 203 billion amount stated by the BIR, BBM supporter response cards (https://www.facebook.com/groups/368662581389431/permalink/391355759120113/), and even another post (https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10221563951469130&set=gm.391339275788428) of the WrestleMania 29 crowd at the MetLife Stadium stating that 203 billion attendees were at the “Alamano Stadium” for a BBM rally.
Why we fact-checked this: A surprising number of people are taking posts from this page as actual supporter posts. While many supporters and pages will post actual falsity, it is just as important to recognize when such falsity is satirical.
