THE Department of Labor and Employment – Cordillera (DOLE-CAR) has approved a petition for an increase in minimum wage for workers in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
DOLE-CAR Regional Director Nathaniel Lacambra said that the new minimum wage order was approved by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board in the region.
Under the new minimum wage order, a total increase of P50 to P60 will be implemented in two tranches.
According to Lacambra, they are now waiting for the National Wages and Productivity Board Commission’s approval to implement the salary adjustments.
An increase of P30 will be added to the P350 minimum wage in Baguio City, Tabuk City, and La Trinidad, Benguet, and P40 will be added to the minimum wage in areas in the region where the minimum wage is P340.
In January of 2023, the second tranche will be implemented, providing an additional P20 to the minimum wage to increase the daily minimum wage in the region to P400.
