DA-CAR provides P52.8m in agri interventions to Benguet rice farmers, coops

IN line with the National Rice Awareness Month (NRAM) and Organic Agriculture Month (OAM)  at the Adivay Agri-fair, the Department of Agriculture Cordillera office (DA-CAR) has turned over some P52.8 million worth of agricultural interventions to four farmers cooperatives and associations in Benguet for rice production.

The recipients included the Legab-Teeng Organization from Bakun, Benguet, which received the completed construction of the Legab Diversion Dam amounting to P2.8 million, the Hydro Nangalisan-Bayabas-Galian Farmers and Irrigators Association from Nangalisan in Tuba, Benguet, which received a rehabilitation of Payacpac Irrigation Canal amounting to P5.4 million.

The Shalupirip Farmers and Irrigators Association from Dalupirip in Itogon, Benguet also received the rehabilitation project of Palanchey Irrigation Canal amounting to P5.2 million, and the Sitio Kalew Farmers Association from Dalupirip in Itogon, Benguet, which received completed construction of a warehouse worth P500,000.

The province of Benguet meanwhile received a certificate of award worth P38.9 million in seeds, fertilizers, and soil ameliorants for the wet cropping season 2022 and dry cropping season from 2022 to 2023.

The funding was under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund–Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA) Program of the DA-CAR.
