The Police Regional Office – Cordillera (PRO-CAR) has netted some P1.8 billion worth of illegal drugs throughout a year of intensified anti-drug operations in 2024.
According to the PRO-CAR’s Regional Operations Division, 974 anti-drug operations were conducted in 2024, which caught more than 6.3 million marijuana plants and at least 5 million grams worth of processed marijuana.
Marijuana is the primary illegal drug of concern in the Cordillera, with PRO-CAR operations only netting a kilo of methamphetamines or shabu throughout all of 2024, with the rest of the P1.85 billion worth of illegal drug products caught coming in the form of various marijuana items, from dried plants, seedlings, oil, and seeds.
Kalinga was a point of concern for the Cordi anti-drug operations, with at least one raid netting millions of pesos conducted every two months within the province.
However, Baguio City still led the number of drug-related arrests, with with 114 apprehended individuals, followed by Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO) with 84 arrests, Benguet PPO with 76 arrests, Abra PPO with 29 arrests, Apayao PPO with 14 arrests, Mountain Province PPO with 10 arrests, and Ifugao PPO with eight arrests.
Further, of the 335 drug personalities arrested, 168 were identified as high-value individuals and 167 were identified as street-level individuals.
