SOME 2,335 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) in Benguet received their payout from May 19 – 21.

Eric Go Yap, Benguet legislative caretaker and ACT CIS partylist representative, facilitated the payout for the first batch of beneficiaries in seven municipalities.

Buguias had the most beneficiaries with 500, Kabayan with 465, Mankayan with 430, 360 in Bokod, 290 each in Atok and Tublay, and 255 in Bakun.

Yap said approximately 35 beneficiaries are allotted per barangay to make sure of equitable distribution of financial aid for displaced workers.

The solon added this is just the first batch for this year.

Last year, at least 25,000 beneficiaries received cash assistance amounting to P125 million, funded through the initiative of Yap.

This week, 3,000 beneficiaries from different municipalities will receive their cash assistance.

Yap added he will pursue bigger allocation for Tupad beneficiaries.

Tupad is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days.
