The Baguio City government has partnered with fast food giant McDonalds to establish a daycare facility funded by the fast food chain in Barangay Asin.
The “Bahay Bulilit” daycare center is part of McDonalds’ corporate social responsibility projects and was started in January, set up along Asin Road.
The project was established on a lot donated by local barangay official Francis Esteban, while the funding for the construction itself worth P3.5 million came from the company. The government’s share is in the operations of the daycare.
According to the local government, the project is set to benefit at least 90 children from barangays Asin and Bakakeng Central.
According to McDonalds Philippines Assistant Vice President for Corporate Relations Adi Hernandez, the company is looking to build a total of 10 such facilities this year alone, with a target of at least 100 facilities established by 2028.
“We spread the projects in different areas which are in need and have gaps in basic education facilities. It is done in collaboration with the local government units that pinpoint the specific location,” she said.
