A total of 14,495 families in the Cordillera region have been hit by the three typhoons that came to the country in the past 10 days.

As of this week, 86 families are in evacuation centers and 328 families have fled but sought refuge with relatives and friends instead of government facilities.

Apayao, Mountain Province, and portions of Ifugao province are under a state of calamity following the devastation of successive typhoons the past weeks.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has readied some P42 million of food assistance and P52 million of non-food assistance for the region, where significant damage has been reported to its local industries and infrastructure.

However, recovery has begun, with local and national agencies pouring in to return the damaged areas of the region to habitable and passable states.

The Mountain Province Electric Cooperative (MOPRECO) has rapidly restored electricity to its constituent territories, re-electrifying sitios and entire towns within the past week.

Similarly, in Benguet, the Benguet Electric Cooperative has reported a near-full restoration of all electricity connections in the province, with an electrification rate of more than 99 percent.

Many roads that have been closed due to the damage from the storms have been restored to a working level of accessibility, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
