The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) – Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) held an initial public hearing last Wednesday, October 30, on the matter of a potential wage hike for portions of the region.

“The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – Cordillera Administrative Region is scheduled to conduct a public hearing on minimum wage adjustment for private sector workers in Ifugao and Mountain Province,” said the RTWPB-CAR.

The meeting worked as an initial gathering of public feedback on the proposed wage hikes in the two provinces, which stem from a salary increase petition from stakeholders in the sector.

The RTWPB-CAR also assured that feedback to be considered in crafting the decision of whether to enact a wage hike or not will be taken from all sides of the stakeholder sectors, which include employers and employees alike.

The minimum wage rate in CAR stands at P430 as provided under Wage Order No. CAR-22, with the latest CAR wage order having taken effect back in December 2023.

The RTWPB-CAR is the second regional wage board to conduct hearings on wage hikes this week, with the Zamboanga RTWPB also having conducted one of its own only the day before.
